AWSS initiative calls on the community to contribute R100 a month to fund essential veterinary care and support growing demand

The Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch (AWSS) has initiated a community-driven campaign designed to create sustainable funding in response to the growing demand for its services.

The campaign comes at a critical time for AWSS, which is experiencing a notable surge in animal intakes due to economic pressures on pet owners who are forced to surrender their pets, alongside increased instances of abandonment.

Despite these challenges, AWSS remains dedicated to caring for animals in need by providing medical treatment, vaccinations, sterilisation, and rehabilitation, helping prepare cats and dogs for their future, forever loving homes.

The 1 000 Life Changers Club aims to bring together 1 000 individuals, each contributing R100 per month to support the shelter. Small, regular contributions from many people can collectively create a reliable source of funding, enabling AWSS to plan ahead and continue delivering essential care.

Funds raised will cover the costs for vital veterinary services, including life-saving treatment, preventative care, and emergency interventions.

“A monthly donation* of R100 may seem small, but together it enables us to provide consistent care and respond when animals need us most,” says AWSS General Manager, Jessica Perrins.

Individuals interested in contributing can visit www.awss.co.za and click on the 1000 Life Changers banner on the homepage. For more information, contact Carolyn at fundraiser@awss.co.za.

All donations are tax-deductible and qualify for a Section 18A certificate.
