Mama Felicity is a dedicated local changemaker and the youngest appointed Mama at Clover Mama Afrika. She began working at Vutomi Inyiko Stimulation Centre in 2005 under the care and guidance of her late aunt, Mama Lina. Today, she proudly carries forward the legacy her aunt passed down to her. Inspired by that foundation, she has created a space where women come together with a shared goal- to strengthen their baking skills and grow their small businesses.
Recognising the high levels of unemployment in her community, Mama Felicity opened her centre to host a one-week training programme designed to equip participants with practical, income-generating skills. The programme goes beyond baking techniques to include professional hygiene standards, teamwork, punctuality, and hands-on food preparation, providing tangible competencies that can immediately translate into economic opportunity.
What makes this initiative especially compelling is the overwhelming community response. Interest far exceeded the available space, reflecting both the urgent need for accessible skills development and the deep trust she has built locally. Despite limited resources, she has already successfully trained three young people, a measurable outcome that underscores the programme’s credibility and real impact.
It also highlights a replicable grassroots model that addresses unemployment and skills gaps at a community level.
