Airlines worldwide are expected to post a combined net profit of $41bn in 2026, maintaining a 3.9% net margin, according to the International Air Transport Association (Iata). While the figure sets a new record in total dollars, profit per passenger is forecast at $7.90 — unchanged from 2025 and below the 2023 peak of $8.50.
